As the rain comes down and the thunder rolls . . .
I'm at home enjoying a few hours of rest.
Wow, life is crazy these days. I went from having a plane ticket home and no job, to getting the rowing job again, and now I've got three on the go! Crazy, never realized how tiring it is to go straight from one job to the other, then back to the first job, then come home to sleep. Some days (like today) are a lot more lax, (although there's lots I ought to and will be doing today) but others are wild. I tried to pick up some sideline work doing construction stuff, putting in pools, etc. and eventually snatched up an offer from one of my mom's friends on facebook for a few hours of work shoveling cement. That job turned into another few hours moving gravel, which turned into another few days of moving gravel (probably moved about 7 yards myself in a few hours that day? Didn't even know how big a yard was before, but now I do!).
I've gotten way more hours than I ever dreamed through this job and have loved it. It's hard, physical work but I'm okay with that. I also picked up a job moving unilock and gravel for a friend from the rowing club. Turns out that he actually intended for me to do the whole job myself instead of just moving stuff, so I went from hired hand to foreman in a hop skip and a flying leap through the air! It's been quite the experience but I've learned a LOT.
I just figured since I've got a few moments I should write something and let you know what I'm up to.
Oh, and the coolest part is that all these jobs came just in the nick of time. I thrashed my ankle just weeks into the summer. Kinda sucks when you carry around 300lb + boats for work, every single day, 7 days a week, twice a day during the week. Yeah, so eventually my ankle got better, and within a week or two I suddenly was looking at 3 jobs! Crazy timing, but it all worked out perfectly. Now if only I could finish that stinkin DL . . .
But yeah, things have been good, I'm basically a hermit and do little more than work, eat, sleep, and talk to Erin on the phone. Miss that girl.
Sorry I didn't reply to your post Keerst, so glad you're doing something you love rather than destroying yourself.
Saw your cute faces at Nick and Jenny's wedding. My mom called me over to look at your pictures on Facebook. Josh you need to grow your beard back. With your long locks you need a vicious beard to match. Congrats to the happy couple.
So yeah, that's life, and now I'm off to do something useful again. I did enjoy the distraction. Here's some pictures I took last night after I shaved the bushman beard i was growing for the last month or so. Felt good to be shaved again, was just tired of being so harry.

Hope you're all doing well,
Oh and Selena, it finally made sense why you said 1/8th. 1 in 4 is a quarter, but a quarter of males. So assuming a 50-50 split male female in Africa (which in truth is probably not the case but for arguments sake we'll roll with it), it would be 1/4 of males and 1/8th of the population! You are a smartie there Selena. Didn't piece that one together for a long time.
And Kenny G, thanks for posting about Africa, and it breaks my heart to hear how what the article talked about was exactly what you were seeing there. Love you lots and hope you're well. Gimme a call sometime girl, it's been forever.
Hope to see most of you at Sam and Jeri's wedding! (coming up soon, craziness).
